Free Irrigation Supplies and Technical Assistance Available to Small-Scale Farmers

WILLOWS, CA (MPG) – Small-scale farmers in Glenn and Colusa counties can apply for free irrigation supplies and technical assistance through a new program offered by the Glenn County Resource Conservation District in partnership with the Community Alliance with Family Farmers.

The program is available to producers who farm 200 acres or less and aims to improve irrigation efficiency, conserve water and support the long-term sustainability of local farming operations.

Eligible participants may receive up to $2,000 in irrigation efficiency supplies based on project needs and program eligibility. Available supplies may include drip tape, drip line, tensiometers, flow meters, pressure sensors and soil moisture sensors.

The program also offers free technical assistance, including well testing, well monitoring, groundwater level monitoring, groundwater quality assessments and treatment guidance, farm needs assessments, aquifer testing, analysis of existing well conditions and legal support.

Funding and supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while resources remain available.

Farmers interested in determining their eligibility or learning more about the program should contact the Glenn County Resource Conservation District by Aug. 14 at (530) 701-6209 or kellie@glenncountyrcd.org.
