ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) – Arbuckle residents and visitors will celebrate the community’s 150th anniversary with a full day of family activities, food, entertainment and hometown traditions on Saturday, July 18, in downtown Arbuckle.
The Arbuckle Revitalization Committee is organizing the sesquicentennial celebration, which will begin with a community parade at 10 a.m.
Parade registration is free and open to cars, floats, horseback riders and walking groups. Participants can register online through the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee’s parade registration form.
Following the parade, a vendor fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring local businesses, community organizations and vendors.
The afternoon schedule will shift to a rib cook-off and cornhole tournament from 2 to 6 p.m. Teams interested in competing in the rib cook-off can register for $100. Each team will receive 16 racks of St. Louis-style spare ribs and may have up to four participants.
Cooking begins at 7 a.m., judging is scheduled for 1 p.m. and lunch service will begin at 2 p.m. Awards will be presented for first place, second place and People’s Choice.
The celebration will continue with a street dance from 6 to 9 p.m.
Organizers also have planned a variety of activities throughout the day, including a watermelon-eating contest, pie-eating contest, kids carnival, live music, an Old West gunfight demonstration and a bucket brigade competition.
The event is designed to recognize Arbuckle’s 150 years of history while bringing residents together to celebrate the community’s traditions and future.
