Life is Good: Another Yard Sale

We did it again. We had another yard sale.

It is not my favorite thing to do, but once again we found ourselves sorting through years of accumulated stuff. This year, we joined the citywide yard sale.

The sale went well, although many people stopped to ask the same question: “Are you moving?”

No, we are not moving. We simply continue to accumulate stuff.

We enjoy the best of both worlds. We are still snowbirds, escaping to California during the winter months and avoiding North Dakota’s snow and ice.

At the same time, we love spending summers in North Dakota. I certainly do not miss the California heat.

Preparing for a yard sale is always a chore, but visiting with friends and neighbors during the sale is a bonus.

My husband, Tom, grew up in a big city but has come to appreciate the many blessings of small-town rural living. Fortunately, we enjoy a similar lifestyle when we spend time in Northern California. Farm country suits us just fine.

Recently, a friend suggested that my Northern California farming roots did not compare to North Dakota farming. Then I saw a combine demolition derby at the Colusa County Fair in Northern California.

That certainly sounds like farm country to me.

As I said, we have the best of both worlds.

Life is good today.
