Colusa 2 – East Nicolaus 3 (4/28)
Colusa 0 – East Nicolaus 6 (5/1)
A series between the Sacramento Valley League’s top two teams ended in heartbreak for the RedHawks as they fell in both games to the Spartans.
On the road, Colusa outhit East Nicolaus 12-7 but also committed four errors in the field and struck out 12 times, which ultimately saw them come up just short in a bid to upend their longtime rivals.
Bella Romero turned in a herculean effort in defeat, going nine innings in the circle where she scattered six hits and did not yield an earned run, then went 3 for 5 at the plate with a double.
Peyton Miller and Marlie Berry both collected two hits apiece for the RedHawks, who scored both their runs in the seventh.
However, things were not so close three days later at home, as Spartan pitcher Kylah Glenn regained her command and no-hit the RedHawks, falling just a walk short of a perfect game.
This week is a busy one for Colusa, who hosted Woodland Christian and Pierce on May 4 and May 5 respectively before hitting the road to face Paradise on May 7 and Pierce on May 8.

Pierce 1 – Durham 20 (4/28)
Pierce 6 – Durham 18 (5/1)
The Bears took it on the chin in an SVL series with the Trojans last week as they were outscored 38-7 over the two games.
Playing at home last Tuesday, Citlali Acevedo went 2 for 2 while Rylie Delepierre had the only other hit and scored the lone run.
In Durham three days later, Pierce put all six runs on the board in the fifth after capitalizing on four free passes issued by Trojans pitchers.
Caley Dye, Frannie Sweet, LucaBella Nolen and Danica Wilkerson each recorded a hit for the Bears.
Pierce (5-14, 1-8) headed to Colusa on Tuesday, then entertained the RedHawks on Thursday.
Williams 3 – Portola 11 (4/28)
Williams 0 – Portola 25
Williams did not have an answer for the visiting Tigers last week, dropping a Mid-Valley League twin bill last Tuesday.
Statistics from the games were not made available.
Still in search of their first victory, the Yellowjackets rounded out the season on May 8 with a doubleheader in Quincy.
