Maxwell’s Alex Krug went 2 for 4 with a double in the Panthers’ 7-5 win over East Nicolaus on April 15.

Maxwell 7 – East Nicolaus 5 (4/15)

In a non-conference game last Tuesday, the Panthers avenged a loss they suffered in March to Spartans in large part to the efforts of Yahir Alcaraz, who in addition to putting in five innings of work on the mound, hit a three-run home run to help his cause.

Wyatt Roach closed out the final two frames for Maxwell.

Alex Krug and Colten Jones each went 2 for 4 with a double, while Macklin Kuska and Vincent Orozco each had two hits as well.

Sitting third in the Mid-Valley League standings, the Panthers (12-6, 2-0) traveled to Biggs on April 21 before returning home to entertain the Wolverines on April 24.

Colusa’s Nick Alvarez had a 2 for 3 day at the plate in the RedHawks’ narrow 4-5 loss to Willows on April 14.

Colusa 4 – Willows 5 (4/14)
Colusa 1 – Willows 2 (4/16)

Last week ended in heartbreak for the RedHawks as they were edged twice in a pair of Sacramento Valley League games with the Honkers.

In the first contest, Colusa rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but could get no closer and as a result fell just short.

Nick Alvarez finished 2 for 3 with two RBI, while Jacob Pina and Dane Codorniz accounted for the RedHawks’ only other hits.

Pina and Charlie Faris performed admirably on the hill, surrendering a combined three earned runs.

On the road for the series finale, Colusa went ahead 1-0 in the top of the fifth, only to see Willows pull ahead in the home half of the frame.

Pina, Faris and Carson Cain recorded the RedHawks’ only hits.

Looking to bring an end to its six game slide, Colusa (3-15, 0-7) traveled to play Vacaville Christian in a non-conference matchup on April 20, then made the trip to Paradise on April 23 for an SVL contest.

Pierce’s Levi Delepierre drove in eight runs and had an inside-the-park home run in the Bears’ April 15 win over Williams.

Pierce 7 – Biggs 13 (4/14)
Pierce 25 – Williams 5 (4/15)
Pierce 1 – Winters 11 (4/16)

After going 1-1 in a pair of non-league games, the Bears fell on the road to Sacramento Valley League rival Winters to end the week.

Although garnering just three hits against the Wolverines, Pierce capitalized on nine errors to put seven runs on the board.

Fabian Paiz, Connor Harris and Colin Dye each recorded a hit for the Bears.

Following up the next day in Williams, Levi Delepierre had a huge day going 4 for 5 with an inside-the-park home run and an unheard of eight RBI.

Alex Ramirez and Hudson Richins each went 2 for 3 with three RBI, while Jimmy Anderson put in three innings of work on the bump, striking out seven and yielding just a single hit.

Statistics from the loss to Winters were not made available.

Pierce (2-13, 0-5) squared off against Willows in an SVL series that began on April 21 and concluded in Arbuckle on April 24.
