If you are a reader of this column, you might recall my favorite quote.
“Stupid is as stupid does,” Mama always says.
Although it is a movie quote from the beloved character Forrest Gump, it rings true, especially these days.
We need only tune into the news to see stupid people doing and saying stupid things. Not just stupid, but violent and senseless.
I do not know about everyone else, but I am ashamed of how Americans are treating one another. The behavior smacks of third world country conduct. War against one another in the streets is not the American way.
I was raised to obey the law. We were taught to respect our leaders and to respect the rule of law. Never once were we encouraged to fight our own in defense of a criminal.
I just do not understand.
I used to write a neighborhood news column. You would not see anything like it these days. It was too much good news for the times we live in.
We had a great dinner with dear friends last night. For many years, we were together on most occasions. Now we have all gone our separate ways in our current chapters of life.
The times we reunite are too few. Count your blessings while you have them.
