Kropf Named Interim Colusa County Administrative Officer

COLUSA, CA (MPG) — The Colusa County Board of Supervisors appointed former County Counsel Marcos Kropf as interim County Administrative Officer, following the retirement of County Administrative Officer Wendy Tyler.

Supervisors approved the temporary appointment during a special meeting on Sept. 30. The resolution authorizes Kropf to serve from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30 under Government Code Section 21221(h), which allows CalPERS retirees to fill critical vacancies on an interim basis while a permanent hire is pending.

Kropf will earn $140.31 per hour, the top of the County’s pay scale for the position, for up to 960 hours in the fiscal year. The agreement waives the County’s usual 28-hour weekly limit for extra-help employees. As a retiree, he will not receive benefits, retirement contributions, or other compensation beyond a $75-per-day travel stipend for commuting to Colusa.

According to the Board’s staff report, the interim appointment fills a gap between Tyler’s retirement and the start date of incoming County Administrative Officer David Pack, who is scheduled to begin Dec. 1. The resolution cites the position as “critically needed” to maintain county operations during the transition.

Kropf previously served as Colusa County Counsel, providing legal guidance to the Board of Supervisors and county departments. His appointment marks a temporary return to county administration while the new permanent officer assumes the role.

The resolution establishing Kropf’s appointment and compensation was adopted unanimously by the Board and took effect immediately upon approval.
