
Colusa Redhawks
Two wins last week to close out the regular season solidified the RedHawks as the No. 3 seed in the Northern Section Division IV playoffs.
To get to that spot, Colusa emerged from the rivalry match against Pierce with a 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17 win, capitalizing on unforced errors by the Bears.
Elle Faris ended the match with a stat line that included 13 kills, 13 assists, seven digs and two aces, while Addison Lay also had a big night finishing with nine kills, 15 assists, 12 digs, and three aces.
Also pitching in on the attack was Cece Mitchum with seven kills, along with Allie Reading with six aces and four kills.
Heading up the defense was libero Abril Guzman, who made a game-high 27 digs.
Concluding last week in Durham, the RedHawks won out 25-15, 26-24, 25-21, although no individual statistics were available.
Colusa (24-11) hosted No. 6 Paradise, a team they swept twice in league play this year on Oct. 24, with the winner going on to face either No. 2 U-Prep or No. 7 CORE Butte on Oct. 26.

Maxwell Panthers
Maxwell bounced back after suffering a loss to Hamilton City on Oct. 19 with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-15 sweep of Biggs before returning home to down Los Molinos 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.
On the road against the Wolverines, Fatima Cano tallied a game-high 11 kills, while Emma Hendrix hit at a .429 clip to record nine kills and also handed out 12 assists.
Kennidy Moss led the way at the service line with six aces, while Bailee Haywood made nine digs in the back row.
Statistics from the win over Los Molinos were not available.
When the Northern Section Division VI playoffs commence this week, the No. 1 seeded Panthers (25-3) have a first round bye, then will return to action at home against the winner of No. 4 Loyalton and No. 5 Etna on Oct. 26.
Pierce Bears
While inconsistent play hampered the Bears in their 20-25, 26-24, 20-25, 17-25 loss to Colusa, they rebounded to dismiss Live Oak 25-6, 25-16, 25-19.
In Colusa, Maggie Reyna recorded 10 kills and three blocks, Laura Rivera and Maciey Hoebel ended the match with eight and six kills, respectively, while Magali Jauregui handed out 16 assists.
For the defense, Macey Myers tallied 18 digs and 42 service receptions, with Gabby Sandoval making 12 digs and received 12 serves.
At home for their final regular season game, Reyna had six kills and six aces to lead the attack.
Rivera also had six kills, while Jauregui accounted for six more aces and dished out 18 assists.
As she has been all season, Myers was a fundamental cog for the defense, making 11 digs.
Pierce (17-12) received the No. 4 seed in the Northern Section Division IV playoffs and, for the third straight year, faced Williams in a first round match which was played at Natalie Corona Gymnasium in Arbuckle on Oct. 24.

Williams Yellowjackets
The Yellowjackets completed Mid-Valley League play last week with a 23-25, 9-25, 18-25 loss in Hamilton City, but had no difficulty against Biggs as they cruised to an easy 25-11, 25-15, 25-11 victory.
On the road last Tuesday, the ‘Jackets were outhit 32-17 and also fell victim to the serve, as the Braves landed 10 aces.
Giselle Navarro dispensed 11 assists, while Mia Rivera registered team-high four kills.
Things came much easier at home against the Wolverines, as Rivera had 18 kills to power the Yellowjacket attack, with Navarro handing out 24 assists.
As the No. 5 seed in the Northern Section Division IV playoffs, Williams (13-18) made the short drive to Arbuckle on Oct. 24 to face No. 4 Pierce, with the winner advancing to a second round match against No. 1 Willows on Oct. 31.
