Strong Showing for ‘Jacket Cross Country

HAMILTON CITY, CA (MPG) – A smaller than normal field gathered for the fifth Mid-Valley League cross country meet hosted by Hamilton City, but that didn’t alter the trajectory of the Williams Yellowjackets as they again turned in strong performances in the varsity races.

In the varsity girl’s contest, the ‘Jackets’ lone participant, Isabella Santillan, finished the three-mile course in a time of 24:59, nearly a minute and a half faster than the Durham runner in second place.

Four Yellowjackets cracked the top 10 in the varsity boy’s race, with Leonardo Esparza crossing the line second in a time of 22:00.

Following Esparza was Ernie Lemus (22:14) in third, Gerardo Navarro (23:35) in sixth, and Angel Hernandez (24:52) in ninth.

Williams was in Durham on Wednesday for the sixth MVL meet.
