Life is good: Homeward Bound

Southern California was a great way to avoid January cold. We know though that North Dakota is where we belong.

So, homeward bound it is.
I was glad to get out of city traffic but I was proud of myself to have managed it.

We spent last night in Kingman, Arizona. Tonight we’re in Tusayan, Arizona. Tomorrow, we’ll take a Hummer tour along the rim of the Grand Canyon. It’s a bucket list thing for Tom to see the Canyon. I’m excited for my first ride in a Hummer. Maybe I’ll understand better all of the hoopla about them then.

But so far in Arizona, I’ve seen a lot of desert. I saw a lot of houses or mobile homes surrounded by dirt and rocks and dry looking desert plants. Plus, the roads in this state are pretty rough. It’s not for me. Give me the prairie!

This last week, Billy Heinrich of Bowman ended his heroic battle and went to heaven. Billy, also dubbed “Beaver” and “Gateman” was a joy to his family and anyone lucky enough to meet him. The family support system he had was enormous. God bless the Heinrich and Rafferty family. They know what it means to be family.

I admire families that truly love each other. It’s how I was raised. It’s how I raised my kids. God is good to have blessed us with one another.

Life is good today. ■
