It’s been 47 years for me and more than 50 for pals Lyn and Jean. We’re all different on many levels, yet the bond of friendship has stayed strong for all of these years.
We’ve all moved to other states, and we were separated, but somehow we manage to at least once a year be together again.
This past week, we did just that. We met at Jean’s house in Gillette, Wyoming.
We had a day trip to Devil’s Tower. It’s magical and a mystery why it is even there, but it’s a beautiful site shooting up from the earth.
The rest of the time together we visited, caught up, and ate/drank a little wine.
Jean conquered some hefty health issues this year. It was time to celebrate and be thankful our girl is still with us.
Thankfully, we are indeed.
The three of us have faced and gotten through many chapters in our lives.
Now that we are edging closer to our last chapters, our lives are again different.
Instead of talking about our kids, we now share stories about our grandkids and great grandkids.
Life thankfully goes on. It evolves to make us better people.
I’m thankful that God chose to bring Lyn and Jean into my life. They helped me to grow. I gained strength and courage from the two of them. I also gained the knowledge that they will always love me; warts and all.
Life is good today. ■
