COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa’s tennis team improved to 3-0 in conference play last week as it rolled over Willows and Paradise on Sept. 15 and 17 respectively.
At home against the Honkers, five singles players including No. 1 Janell Garica (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 Ilayali Cruz (6-0, 6-1), No. 3 Emily Lopez (6-1, 6-1), No. 4 Hirami Ochiai (6-2, 6-1) and No. 6 Charlotte Stever (6-0, 6-0) won in straight sets, while No. 5 Luna Torres outlasted her opponent 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 11-9.
In doubles, Garcia/Cruz breezed to an 8-1 triumph in the No. 1 match, No. 2 Stever and Baylee Guizar and No. 3 Lopez/Trejo won 8-5 and 8-3 respectively.
Two days later, the same ladder and doubles teams swept past Willows.
This week, the RedHawks played home matches against Shasta Charter Academy on Tuesday and Durham on Thursday.
