COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa Ducks trap shooter Ray Chamberlin earned a third-place finish at the California Youth Shooting Sports Association Senior State Trap Championship, securing a berth to the National Championships.
Chamberlin was the only Junior Varsity shooter representing the Colusa Ducks at the state competition. Competing against shooters from larger programs across California, he posted one of the top performances in his division to earn a place on the podium.
The result marks a significant achievement for both Chamberlin and the Colusa Ducks program, which continues to compete against larger teams from throughout the state.
Trap shooting has grown in popularity among youth athletes in rural communities, emphasizing firearm safety, concentration and marksmanship skills. Programs such as the Colusa Ducks provide opportunities for students to compete at local, state and national levels.
With his third-place finish, Chamberlin now advances to the National Championships, where he will compete against top youth trap shooters from across the country.
His performance at the state championship adds another accomplishment to the Colusa Ducks program and gives the community a representative on the national stage.
