Williams 45 – Hamilton City 71 (1/20)
Williams 63 – CORE Butte 31 (1/21)
Williams 41 – Quincy 40 (1/23)

Despite having a rough go of it against Hamilton City, the ‘Jackets bounced back to secure wins over CORE Butte and Quincy in three home games last week.

Miguel Murillo poured in a team high 24 points last Tuesday, but no other Yellowjacket could break into double figures as Williams fell in the Mid-Valley League contest.

However, the offense got back on track the following evening with Murrillo again leading the way after going for 15 points, while Moises Vargas added 12 points and Diego Ambriz finished with 10 points.

Yet, the most competitive contest came against the Trojans last Friday, when after being down seven at the half, Williams staged a furious fourth quarter rally that saw them score eight points with under two minutes left on the clock.

Murillo and Eric Lievanos each accounted for 11 points in the victory.

Coach Jeff Lemus was proud of the way his team was able to come from behind and explained how they did it saying, “We took advantage of each possession and played a slower paced game. We were able to feed the ball to Eric in the post and let him go to work.”

Williams (7-12, 2-2) was in Biggs on Tuesday to face a very tough Wolverine squad before returning home to play Portola tonight.

Tanner Vierra scored a team-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Vincent Orozco finished with 16 points against the Trojans.

No statistics from the loss to the Wolverines were provided by Maxwell (9-9, 1-3) who hosted Portola and Hamilton City on Jan. 27 and Jan. 30 respectively.

No information was made available by the RedHawks (9-11, 4-2), currently the second-place team in the Sacramento Valley League.

This week was a busy one for Colusa as they made their way to Paradise on Jan. 26, returned home to play Durham on Wednesday and East Nicolaus this evening.
