Basketball roundup: Panther teams playoff bound

Boys:

Maxwell 41 – Biggs 65 (2/8)
Maxwell 49 – Los Molinos 56 (2/10)

Maxwell closed out its final two Mid-Valley League games with losses at the hands of Biggs and Los Molinos, respectively, but the Panthers are still in the running in the Northern Section Division VII playoff picture.

As the No. 7 seed, Maxwell (12-10) hosted No. 10 Hayfork in a first round match up with the winner advancing to face Princeton tonight in the quarterfinals.

Girls:

Maxwell 24 – Biggs 31 (2/7)
Maxwell 28 – Los Molinos 37 (2/10)

Just like the Panther boys, the girls dropped a pair of games to end the regular season, but are moving on to see what they can do in the NSCIF Division VII playoffs.
Seeded No. 6, Maxwell (3-14) was in Cedarville Wednesday night to take on No. 4 Surprise Valley, with the winner making its way to Dorris on Feb. 17 to square off against No. 1 Butte Valley.

Williams 38 – CORE Butte 25 (2/7)
Williams 23 – Biggs 57 (2/10)

The small in number but scrappy Yellowjackets completed their season last week with a win and a loss against Mid-Valley League opponents.

At home against CORE Butte, Mia Rivera had a strong performance, netting 14 points, while Bri Jaime chipped in with eight points in the win.

However, in Biggs for the season finale, the ‘Jackets struggled to get on track against the Wolverines.

Maddie Davalos had a team high eight points for Williams (5-14), who opted out of the playoffs.
