Colusa FB shuts out Live Oak

It was a quick trip to Live Oak last Friday night for the Colusa RedHawks, as they shutout the Lions 37-0 to improve their overall record to 7-2 and 2-2 in the Sacramento Valley League.

Colusa scored early and often in the first quarter, then added one more touchdown in the second period to put the game away.

With a 37-point advantage, the RedHawks’ younger players got a chance to gain some experience, and the Lions opted for a running clock.

Nick Price made the most of his limited touches on the night, catching touchdown passes of 52 and 13 yards, in addition to returning a punt 54 yards for another score.

Price also had a 61-yard rushing touchdown called back due to a penalty.

Quarterback Emanuel Frias completed five of seven passes, for 108 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to Price, while a third was a 15-yarder to Landon Humphreys.

Rounding out the scoring for the RedHawks was Juan Arreguin, who scored from 16 yards out, while Hayden McCarty had a strong showing, rushing for 51 yards on eight carries and making two receptions for 64 yards.

Colusa closes out the regular season on Friday night when they head to Wahl Field in Trowbridge to take on a struggling East Nicolaus team that has just two wins on the year, although both have come against SVL teams.
