COLUSA, CA (MPG) – A tradition continued last Friday night as the Colusa Alumni Association honored four former school district employees with its “You Inspired Me Award.”
Taking the lead in nominating the current group of honorees was the Colusa High School Class of 1975, which had celebrated its fiftieth high school reunion on August 2, 2025.
Following their gathering, the Class of 1975 selected educators Ted Overton, Sr. and Perry Rablin, along with cafeteria managers Beverly Hulbert and Barbara Jovich as people who were inspirational to them during their time at CHS.
During the ceremony, Overton was remembered for sharing his expertise and exhibiting extraordinary patience in his shop classes, while Rablin was acknowledged for his humor, love of poetry, stories and art, as well as always being accessible to his students.
When recalling interactions with Hulbert and Jovich, the members of the Class of 1975 recalled the “twinkle in their eyes and the smiles on their faces” as they worked to feed and meet the everyday needs of the students at the high school.
Thanks to a generous donation from Ben King (Class of 1977), the “You Inspired Me” Award is an avenue for alumni to honor educators, coaches, staff members and administrators that they feel made a positive impact.
Those honored receive a plaque in addition having their name placed in a special section on the Donor Wall located at Yeghoian Field.
