Life is good: Stay cultured up

We’ve traveled by high-speed train to Venice and Florence. We’ve ridden in Ubers and taxis, both ground and water. We attended Musici Veneziani’s “The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi. Gotta stay cultured.

We made a pilgrimage to Bologna to see Velvet’s confirmation saint and enjoyed Mass at the Church of Corpus Domini, a 15th-century church that serves as the final resting place of St. Catherine of Bologna.

In Bologna, we also tried bologna pizza. Velvet loved it. Me, not so much.

We toured Rome in a golf cart and Venice in gondolas.

I realized my dream of visiting the Trevi Fountain in Rome. To my dismay, it was blocked off for cleaning, so no coins were tossed. Still, I had my moment, gazed upon the water and made my wishes.

Tomorrow we will see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and, at week’s end, we’ll return to Rome and visit the Vatican.

I never thought I’d tire of eating pastries, but it can happen. The pizza is delicious and the gelato is never-ending.

I’m convinced we won’t gain weight because of the miles we’ve walked, stairs we’ve climbed and bridges we’ve crossed. They’re not just bridges. They are bridges with steps.

For two women, both with bum legs, we’ve done pretty well.

This has been a once-in-a-lifetime trip for me. I’ll likely not do something like it again. Hopefully, Velvet will continue to explore the world but share a few more U.S. trips with Ma.

Life is certainly good today.
