Baseball Roundup

Colusa 11 – Paradise 1 (4/8)

Colusa 12 – Paradise 1 (4/10)

A sweep of Sacramento Valley League foe Paradise brought the RedHawks 15-game winless streak to an end as they took out some frustration against the Bobcats.

Colusa’s Jace MacKaben doubled in both of the RedHawks’ wins over Paradise last week.

At home last Tuesday, Colusa put crooked numbers on the board in four of the game’s five innings and cruised to its first victory.

Adan Travis went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI and Lucas Price was 2 for 2 with three runs scored to lead the RedHawks, who also saw Carlos Franco double and drive in two runs while Jace MacKaben also doubled to knock in a run.

Price earned the win on the mound going the five innings where he allowed three hits and struck out two.

In Paradise, the RedHawks sent Juan Ramirez to the hill and the junior responded by scattering four hits and fanning two to earn the win.

Price stayed hot at the plate, finishing 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBI, Travis picked up two more hits while MacKaben recorded another double.

Looking to continue its winning ways, Colusa (2-15, 2-4) was scheduled to be in Willows on Apr. 15 and conclude the series with the Honkers at home today.

Pierce 0 – Winters 13 (4/8)

Pierce 2 – Winters 19  (4/11)

Runs were hard to come by for the Bears last week as they dropped two Sacramento Valley League games to Winters.

Pierce first baseman Nathan Gomez reacts to a ball in play in the Bears’ loss to Winters on Apr. 11.
Pierce third baseman Mikey Acevedo tries to apply the tag to a Winters base runner in a game on Apr. 11 in Arbuckle.

In a shutout loss on the road, errors did in Pierce, who got its four hits from Connor Harris, Mikey Acevedo, Alex Ramirez and Easton Richins.

Returning home last Friday, a disastrous fifth inning saw the run rule bring an end to the game.

No other statistics were provided by the Bears (2-13, 0-6), who were off this week and return to action in Durham on Apr. 29.
