Helen Margarette Cain passed away October 3, 2016 at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento at the age of 93. Helen was born April 7, 1923 in Colusa, CA. She was a lifelong resident of Colusa County. She attended elementary school in Grimes and graduated from Pierce High School in 1941. She graduated from The Upthegrove School of Beauty Culture in Sacramento in 1942 to become a beautician. She spent a summer working in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her friend Marie, and also worked for a time at Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe.
Helen married the love of her life, Eugene, on October 1, 1947 and she became the family beautician and homemaker. Helen and Eugene took time away from the farm for several trips, including a cruise to Alaska and also through the Panama Canal. Helen was a member of the Grimes Community Church, Arbuckle Methodist Church, and a past leader for Johns 4-H. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and gardening. Helen was also a gifted painter. She left numerous oil paintings for her family to treasure. Helen also loved going for ” a ride” in the car and would often be reminded to slow down and to ” not drive her age. She also was known for her creative Halloween costumes and ” trick or treating” her neighbors in the Johns District. Being over at the coast in the Ft. Bragg area was a special place for her. Helen had many adventures on the Mendocino Coast with her sister Martha and numerous family members, and spent many anniversarys at the Little River Inn with her husband Eugene.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 69 years Eugene G. Cain of Arbuckle, CA Daughters; Nancy Myers (Micheal) of Arbuckle, Carolyn Sutherlin (Ron) of Auberry, CA., Diane McCullough (David) of Arbuckle, CA., Son; Gary Cain (Carole) of Arbuckle, CA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. Helen is survived by her siblings, Louise Mumma and Herbert Fruchtenicht, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Martha Miller and granddaughters Jennie Myers and Sarah Sutherlin.

Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 10 at the McNary-Moore Chapel in Colusa, CA. Funeral were held Tuesday Oct. 11 at the Grimes Community Church in Grimes, CA. Burial will follow at the College City Cemetery.
