Colusa County Fair Welcomes Junior Fair Board Members – The 44th District Agricultural Association welcomed new members to the Colusa County Fair Junior Fair Board for two-year terms. Members include Colt Montgomery, Connor Harris, Kennedy Nall, Maci Garofalo, Peyton Miller, Stephanie Gonzalez and Whitney Traynham. The Junior Fair Board gives students opportunities to build leadership skills, gain hands-on experience and help plan future fairs.
Stagehands to Present ‘Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors’ – Directed by Jeff Graham, from Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Free Narcan Giveaways Planned at County Libraries Colusa – County Behavioral Health will distribute free Narcan at library branches throughout the county from Oct. 13 through Oct. 22. Giveaways are scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 13 in Maxwell, Oct. 14 in Princeton, Oct. 16 in Colusa, Oct. 19 in Arbuckle, Oct. 20 in Williams and Oct. 22 in Stonyford. The Grimes giveaway will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Behavioral Health staff will be available at each location to answer questions about naloxone and opioid overdose response.
Colusa County Adult School Accepting Fire Academy Applications – Colusa County Adult School is accepting applications for its 2027 Fire Academy through 4 p.m. Oct. 13. The 400-hour program will run over 20 weekends from Jan. 1 through May 16 at Education Village in Williams. Training will include wildland and structure fire operations, fire line construction, engine operations, confined space awareness, hazmat certification and firefighter safety. The program is open to high school seniors and adults who will be at least 18 by June 1, 2027.
Run Colusa Set for Nov. 8 – Run Colusa, a 5K, 10K and half marathon organized as Peyton Miller’s senior project, will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, at Colusa High School. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with proceeds benefiting City of Colusa youth sports and recreation. RCD Offers Free Defensible Space Consultations – The Colusa County Resource Conservation District is offering free defensible space consultations through Dec. 31 for residents in wildfire-prone areas of the county. The consultations provide site-specific guidance on reducing wildfire risk around homes, and some participants may qualify for additional assistance with improvements. County Plans Mobile Ballot Pickup – The Colusa County Elections Department will offer mobile ballot pickup at five locations ahead of the November general election, according to a department flyer. Stops are scheduled Oct. 25 in Arbuckle, Oct. 27 in Princeton, Oct. 29 in Grimes, Oct. 31 in Maxwell and Nov. 1 in Stonyford. Registered California voters may submit sealed and signed vote-by-mail ballots at the mobile locations.
