Early Voting Site Opens May 30

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Colusa County voters will have access to an early voting location for the June election under a new state law taking effect this year.

Colusa County Registrar of Voters Cristy Jayne Edwards announced that Assembly Bill 1249, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, takes effect Jan. 1, 2026. The law requires non-Voter’s Choice Act counties to provide at least one early voting location on the Saturday before Election Day.

The law adds Elections Code Section 3016.3 and also amends Section 3016.5 related to in-person voting with vote-by-mail ballots.

To comply with the new requirement, Colusa County Elections officials will open an early voting location May 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 546 Jay St. in Colusa.

County officials said the location will allow voters to cast ballots in person ahead of Election Day.

For more information, residents can contact the Colusa County Elections Department at 530-458-0500 or visit the county clerk-recorder website.
