Life is Good: Home is Good

After landing in three counties and about 14 hours in the air  plus layovers it was great to put our feet back on American soil.

In the hotel elevator in Billings, Montana two good old boy Montana guys greeted us with with “mornin”.

I have to say it was music to my ears after two weeks of not understanding the mix of languages in Italy. It even did my heart good to read airport signs in English.

We learned a few things on this trip. Pizza, pastries and breads were wonderful. Italian pasta and sauces were not much to our liking.

We rented apartments in Rome, Venice and Florence. The Rome apartment was by far our favorite and we stayed there twice. We booked apartments on the first floor thinking they would be ground level. That was true in Rome but in Florence and Venice the first floor apartments were three flights of stairs up.

We discovered people in Italy are in a hurry and often just walk into you.

We saw so many beautiful and historic buildings and monuments. It was mind boggling to imagine how they may have been built thousands of years ago.

One of my favorite stops was The Leaning Tower of Pisa. I had no idea from photographs that it was that beautiful.

Even thought daughter Velvet and I both were dealing with ankle injuries , we kept moving forward. We walked all day every day.

Because of this we had assistance at the airports. In these massive airports the assistance was greatly appreciated.

But now, we’re home. I felt a sense of peace the moment we were back in the USA.

Jet lagged and sick, I’ve had a few days to sleep it off.

Life is good today.
