YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) – With the venue for their Northern Section CIF Division III first round playoff match moved to Yuba City High School’s all-weather field and then playing in the late game, the Colusa girls soccer team still prevailed in a 2-0 shutout win over No. 6 Willows last Thursday evening.
Lizbet Ayala got the No. 3 RedHawks off to a strong start with a goal in the 17th minute off an assist from Natalee Stegall.
Ten minutes later, Ayala set up Colusa’s second goal on a corner kick as the ball found Jazmin Almaraz, who booted it across the line.

Although they were the only scores of the night, the RedHawk defense led by Cindel Oliver, Kendall Marengo and Eloise Guerrero helped goalkeeper Monica Guerrero keep a clean sheet.

Colusa (12-6-2) had its playoff journey continue in Redding against No. 2 Shasta Charter on Feb. 24, with the winner earning a berth in the title game on Feb. 28 at Harrison Stadium in Oroville.
