Buoyed by its defense, Pierce shutout visiting Willows last week, but could not come up with the equalizer against Colusa and as a result suffered the narrow loss.

Against the Honkers, the defense led by seniors Yarely Ruiz and Anahi Ruiz along with freshmen Ashley Jansen and Citlali Acevedo kept the Willows attack in check and helped goal keeper Nita Rodriguez to record the shoutout.

Although scoreless at the half, the Bears came out strong after intermission with Sofia Mendoza scoring in the 41st minute, which was followed by goals by Olivia Dudley in the 69th minute and Sophia Oliveros in the 71st minute.

This week Pierce (4-5, 1-1) faced perennial powerhouse Winters at home on Tuesday, then traveled to Williams to square off against the Yellowjackets on Thursday.
