MAXWELL, CA (MPG) – Although it wasn’t easy, the Panthers extended their win streak to six games last week after posting five set wins over Los Molinos and CORE Butte respectively in two preseason matches.
At home in a back-and-forth contest again Los Molinos, Maxwell came on strong in the fifth set to claim the 26-24, 21-25, 26-24, 18-25, 15-2 victory.
Setter Olivia Roa spread the ball around nicely handing out 19 assists, while Fatima Cano had a match-high 14 kills.
Lyla Barrett and Erin Dennis pitched in with six kills apiece, while Allie Wills finished with 10 digs.
It was another close one two days later in Chico as the Panthers triumphed over CORE Butte 26-24, 24-26, 23-25, 25-23, 15-8, although no statistics were made available.
Maxwell (11-8) began its Mid-Valley League schedule in Williams on Tuesday and then made the trip to Quincy on Thursday.
