‘Jacket boys move into first place tie in MVL

The Yellowjackets’ Brian Rosales, shown in a photo from last month, scored 17 and 22 points respectively in wins over Hamilton city and CORE Butte last week.

With wins over rivals Hamilton City and CORE Butte last week, Williams secured a share of the top spot in the Mid-Valley League as the midway point of the regular season approaches.

Playing at home against the Braves on Jan. 18, the Yellowjackets posted a 73-55 win behind a double-double from Brian Rosales that included 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Leo Trujillo and Alexis Velazquez each finished with 13 points, while Kyden Bowen added 11 points.

Williams followed up on the road last Friday night by crushing the Lynx 85-49, when it registered its highest point output of the season thus far.

Rosales pumped in 22 points, Trujillo and Daniel Brunner dropped in 12 apiece, with Bowen contributing 11 points for the second game in a row.

This week the ‘Jackets have two home games starting on Wednesday against Biggs, then look to avenge a loss on Friday when Los Molinos, the only MVL team to beat them in league play, comes to town. ■
