Pierce completed its preseason schedule last week by defeating Biggs 11-6 and Williams 14-1, before falling 9-2 to Gridley.
At home on March 15, the Bears took advantage of 10 free issued passes by Wolverine pitchers, then banged out five extra base hits to secure the win.
Ryan Travis led the way at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI. Brayden Hoebel drove in a pair of runs with a double, Julian Camberos ended the day 2 for 4 with a double, and Luke Myers smashed a two-bagger, as well.
Hoebel turned in an impressive outing on the hill, holding Biggs hitless, while striking out five, prior to giving way after four innings of work.
In Williams on March 17, Pierce used three pitchers, Sid Charter, Camberos, and Myers, to keep the ‘Jackets in check.
Camberos had a nice day with the bat, as well, finishing 2 for 3, while Kaden Davis also collected two hits.
Charter, Danny Rubio, Colton VanLaningham, Tony Maldonado, and Roberto Ramirez each added a hit to the Bears’ total.
Statistics for the loss to Gridley were not available.
Pierce was back at it this week on the road in Winters for its Sacramento Valley League opener on March 22. They return home March 25 to host the Warriors with first pitch at 4 PM. ■
