Skeet Team competes in Andy Laird Open

The local Traveling Circus Skeet Team attended the “Andy Laird Open” on March 19, hosted by the Stockton Trap and Skeet Club. The team competed in the “20 Gauge Skeet Event,” although the weather conditions were not ideal.

With wind gusts up to 19 miles per hour, shooting wasn’t a worry for the skillful team, said Bob Maffei, in a report.

Raegan Parisio placed as the Class D Champion, Sub Junior Runner Up Champion, and the Lady’s Runner Up Champion.

Landon Barrett was awarded second place in Class D and third place in the Sub Junior Division. Devin Wurm won the Triple Sub Champion in the event.

In the crowd of spectators who attended the contest, California Skeet Hall of Fame Shooter, Jerry King, watched the popular team shoot.

“The Traveling Circus Skeet Team appreciates and thanks him for the support,” Maffei said.

The competition follows a successful 2021 shooting year, where the Traveling Circus Skeet Shooting Team had many impressive moments and even more celebratory memories they will remember forever.

The team competed in Grants Pass, Ore. for the Rainy Day Open, with the Wurm Brothers shooting their way to multiple titles.

Devin Wurm won the Out of State Champion and Dustin Wurm was awarded the Junior Champion and the Class C Champion. Also making her way to victories, Raegan Parisio was the Lady Champion and Class E Champion.

The team also received a special invitation to the Porter Ford Open in Grants Pass in June, with Devin Wurm being the 12 Gauge Champion and the Triple Shot Senior Champion. Dustin Wurm was the Class D Champion and Raegan Parisio won the Sub Junior Champion.

“I believe that the personable Oregon host clubs like to see these young shoots demonstrate their shotgun skills,” said Bob Maffei in a report.

The team also attended the Oregon State Skeet Association Championship in July, hosted by the JCSA Trap and Skeet Club. The Traveling Circus was led by the Wurm Brothers and Raegan Parisio, with new team members, Landon Barret and Parker Gill, also garnishing additional honors.

During the Zone 7 Skeet Championship in Stockton in August, Devin Wurm was the Class D Champion shooting 95/100. Parker Gill joined the winner’s podium by taking the Sub Junior Champion in the 20 Gauge Event and the Sub Junior Champion title in the 12 Gauge Event.

Not giving her teammates much room for error, Raegan Parisio earned third place honors in the Sub Junior 12 Gauge Event and third place honors in the 20 Gauge Event.
