It was just like old times in Colusa on Friday.
About 1,000 people flocked to Market Street for Christmas Tyme in Colusa, hosted by the Colusa Lions Club, the Colusa Rotary Club, the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Colusa.
After being cancelled last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and cut short in 2019 because of rain, having the event on a beautiful fall evening meant a lot to everyone.

“This is a great Colusa activity,” said Ed Conrado, a member of the Colusa Lions Club, who served as master of ceremonies. “This is the community coming together for a common purpose.”
The 2021 Christmas Tyme in Colusa had more than 60 vendors lining the streets to sell food and gift items. Many of the booths provided non-profit organizations the opportunity to meet their fundraising goals, including the Colusa Girl Scouts, who sold decadent hot chocolate, and the Colusa Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, who sold s’mores kits for those wishing to make the tasty treat over an open hanging fire pit.

“Everyone comes out just to have a great time,” said Vicki Strauss, who was helping her friend sell handmade crafts. “This is such a wonderful tradition.”
Colusa Mayor Josh Hill and Supervisor Denise Carter officiated over the lighting of the town tree, and the Colusa Fire Department escorted Santa Claus to Candy Cane Lane at the Colusa County Courthouse, where kids got to put in their Christmas wishes.
Entertainment included the Industrial Drive band on the main stage, and performances by the Maxwell Jazz Band, under the direction of Ron Rector, and Stardust dancers.
Conrado said Christmas Tyme in Colusa was a collaboration of organizations and volunteers.

“This wouldn’t have happened without the Lions, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, and City of Colusa,” Conrado said. “They put in a tremendous amount of time in this activity.”
