aDespite last weeks rising temperatures, the Colusa, Pierce and Williams football teams traveled to Maxwell on July 7 to join the Panthers for an all-Colusa County 7 v.7.
” Its fun for the kids,” said Maxwell head coach Lane Davis, who has organized the weekly gatherings. Williams coach Jeff Lemus enjoyed the opportunity as well saying, ” It was awesome. I look forward to doing it again next year.
While all four teams are involved with their own off season workouts, the 7 v. 7 format gives them the chance to put into practice what they are currently implementing on both sides of the ball, and, at the same time, play against some familiar faces in their county rivals.
All four coaches found the evening a productive experience but also pointed out that their teams were works in progress.
With the official start of fall football practice just about three weeks away, the 7 v. 7 matchups give the teams a head start in their preparations for the upcoming season. –
