ROCKLIN, CA (MPG) – Five Williams cross country runners tested their early season progress last Saturday among nearly 2000 harriers on the 4,000 meter course at the Oakmont Cross Country Invitational held at Johnson Springview Park.
In the varsity boys’ race that featured 338 competitors, Philip Santillan ran a personal best time of 14:54.09, while Fernando Cervantes posted a time of 16:39.84 in the JV rendition.
Leonardo Navarro ended the sophomore race with a mark of 22:09.40 before the freshman contest where Jeremiah Perez registered the Jackets’ best finish of the day, crossing the line fifth in a field of 210 runners to earn a medal with a time of in 13:52.56.
Williams’s lone participant in the girls’ division, Lucia Vidrio-Mederos ran a personal best 17:14.37 in the frosh/soph race.
The Yellowjackets will next travel to Vacaville on Sept. 5 for the Lagoon Valley Classic.
