WILLOWS, CA (MPG) – Teams from Pierce, Maxwell and Williams made their way to Willows last Friday evening to join the Honkers and get in some court time at what was unofficially dubbed the I-5 Corridor Scrimmage.
Organized by Pierce coach Lauren Ornbuan who, with the soaring temperatures last week, decided to relocate the event to Willows, the only of the four schools involved that currently has functioning air conditioning.
Competitive matches ensued, providing the four squads an opportunity to practice their rotations and learn their roles while playing against someone other than their own teammates.
Each school’s varsity and JV squads played three matches apiece as a large crowd turned out to watch the final tune-up before the much-anticipated preseason commenced this week.
