Tough Week for RedHawk Tennis

Colusa freshman Brock Prior earned a singles win in the RedHawk’s loss to Oroville on March 23.

COLUSA, CA (MPG) – After rattling off seven straight wins to start the season, the Colusa boys tennis team ran into some tougher going last week as they dropped all three matches including one to Oroville and two to Willows.

In Oroville on March 23, Brock Prior came away with a 6-1, 6-4 victory, the RedHawks’ only one in the 1-8 setback to the Tigers.

A day later the team traveled to Willows where they suffered a similar fate although the lone win came from the No. 3 doubles pairing of Samuel Fanti and Romeo Reyes, who prevailed 8-2.

Completing the series with the Honkers at home on March 26, Colusa was shutout 9-0.

RedHawk senior Gaven Recendez came up short in a match against Willows on March 26.

Gaven Recendez had a close match in the No. 2 singles spot falling 6-4, 5-7, 10-4, while Fanti and Reyes came the closest to a win in doubles falling 6-8.

Now sitting second in the Sacramento Valley League, the RedHawks (7-3) looked to get back on track when they hosted Paradise Adventist Academy on April 2.
