Maxwell 60 – Portola 48 (2/13)
After a loss to Biggs to start last week, the Panthers bounced back to beat Portola and bring an end to Mid-Valley League play.
In Biggs, Levi Velasquez and Tanner Vierra each dropped in nine points to lead Maxwell, although no information from the win in Portola was made available.
Having finished fifth in the MVL, Maxwell (11-13, 3-7) opened the Northern Section CIF Division VI playoffs as the No. 6 seed in Hayfork on Thursday night with the winner squaring off against either Biggs or Plumas Charter on Feb. 24.

Williams 26 – Quincy 54 (2/10)
Williams 49 – Biggs 81 (2/13)
It was a disappointing end to the regular season for the Yellowjackets as they fell to Mid-Valley League foes Quincy and Biggs.
On the road against the Trojans, Diego Ambriz finished with a team-high 11 points, but no other information from the loss to the Wolverines was provided.
Despite the setbacks, Williams was awarded the No. 15 seed in the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs and traveled to Oroville on Feb. 18 to take on the No. 2 Tigers.
Princeton 62 – Elk Creek 33 (2/9)
Princeton 57 – Loyalton 60 (2/10)
In the blowout win at home over the Elks, Emmanuel Andrade poured in 22 points, Nate Ramirez wasn’t far behind with 18 points and Erick Haro cleaned up on the boards pulling down 13 rebounds.
Following up in Loyalton the next day, the Eagles played tough but came up short in spite of a 27-point effort from Andrade.
Ramirez tossed in 14 points and Robert Guzman cleared away nine boards.
Princeton (5-19, 4-10) continued its season in the Northern Section CIF Division VII playoffs as the No. 7 seed and were in Happy Camp on Feb. 17 to play the No. 2 Indians.
Girls:

Pierce 37 – Durham 57 (2/10)
Pierce 37 – East Nicolaus 33 (2/13)
Although the Bears could not get by first place Durham, they did knock off East Nicolaus at home, dropping the Spartans from second to third in the Sacramento Valley League.
In Durham Nita Rodriguez, who played a half in goal for the Bear soccer team prior to the start of the basketball game, posted a double-double that included 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Jaslene Condrey also finished with 11 points in the loss.
Condrey stayed hot against the Spartans recording a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Rodriguez corralled 16 boards.
Pierce (13-15, 7-5) looked to make some noise in the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs as the No. 9 seed when they made the trek to Susanville to play No. 8 Lassen on Feb. 17.
Maxwell 40 – Biggs 54 (2/10)
Maxwell 20 – Portola 51 (2/13)
The Panthers ended Mid-Valley League play with a pair of losses, but saw their season continue on Feb. 18 in the Northern Section CIF Division VI playoffs where they took on No. 7 Etna.
On the road against Biggs, Ruby Herrera had a team-high 14 points and Miyah Reyes pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Maxwell.
In Portola, Herrera and Reyes each tossed in seven points, but it wasn’t enough for the No. 10 seeded Panthers.
Williams 21 – Quincy 56 (2/10)
Williams 23 – Biggs 54 (2/13)
Despite showing improvement as the season progressed, the Yellowjackets ended the year without a win to their credit.
Jennifer Vega Jimenez led the effort in Quincy with nine points, while Lupita Zuniga’s 10-point, 10-rebound double-double paced Williams against the Wolverines.
