Williams Wrestlers Seeing Positive Results

WINTERS, CA (MPG) – Hard work and dedication are starting to pay dividends for members of the Williams wrestling squad as they had a solid outing at a match night hosted by Winters on Jan. 14.

Coach Nik Willis singled out notable performances by Julian Camerena, Rafael Moreno, Ricardo Medina, Lupita Flores, Kamile Ellebracht and Emma Gandara.

Camerena, wrestling at 140 pounds, won all three of his scheduled matches, while Moreno, competing at 159 pounds finished 2-1.

Medina and Flores at 167 and 105 pounds respectively, defeated their opponents in their only matches of the night, while Ellebracht (127 lbs.) and Gandara (172 lbs.) went 1-1.

From there, ‘Jacket wrestlers traveled to Armijo High School’s Invitational on Jan. 17, where according to Willis they got the opportunity to compete against programs they don’t see on a regular basis.

Medina had the best showing, garnering fifth place after going 3-1 in the 159 lb. weight class, while Moreno took seventh in the same division having finished 3-2.

Camerena came away seventh at 140 lbs. where he went 2-2 on the day.

Williams’ grapplers were in Arbuckle on Jan. 21 for a match night hosted by Pierce.
