COLUSA, CA (MPG) – Last week was a demanding one for the Colusa girls’ basketball team as it dropped two close games to Sacramento Valley League foes Durham and East Nicolaus in addition to coming away with a victory in a rugged contest against Biggs.
Hosting Durham on Jan. 6, the back-and-forth affair came down to the wire as the RedHawks were edged 51-47 by the Trojans, although no statistics were made available.
Returning to the court the following evening for a non-conference matchup, Colusa turned in a strong fourth quarter to get past an aggressive Wolverine squad by a score of 45-25.
Peyton Miller had a big night with a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double in an often chippy, foul-laden affair.
Marlie Berry ended the game with nine points and 11 rebounds, while in the paint, Maci Garofalo and Baylee Guizar had nine and eight boards respectively.

In Trowbridge on Jan. 9, the RedHawks could not hold off a fourth quarter rally by East Nicolaus and a result fell 40-44 in another closely contested game.
Fifteen missed free throws also played a role for Colusa in the unfortunate outcome.
Miller, with 14 points, tied with the Spartans’ Avelina Machado for the game high.
Garofalo and Braelyn Santana pitched in with seven points apiece.
Looking to get on track in SVL play the RedHawks (6-10, 0-2) hit the road to meet Paradise on Monday before making its way to Arbuckle to face Pierce tonight.
