PRINCETON
Princeton 66 – Biggs 52 (11/27)
Princeton 71 – CORE Butte 43 (11/30)
Last year’s Northern Section CIF Division VII runner-up Princeton is off to a hot start this season averaging 68.5 points per game in its first two contests.
Leading the way is the section’s reigning scoring leader, Junior Andrade, who dropped 36 points against Biggs, then followed up with 35 in the Eagles’ romp over CORE Butte.
In the first two games of his final season for Princeton, Andrade connected on more than 50 percent of his shots from the floor and over 40 percent from beyond the arc.
But the Eagles also have complements to Andrade in their arsenal, which includes sophomore, Nate Ramirez, and fellow senior, Corwyn Roberson.
Ramirez put up 15 and 16 points, respectively, in the two wins, while Roberson posted his first double-double of the year with a 12-point, 10 rebound effort on the road in Chico against the Lynx.
Another significant contributor for Princeton was junior, Chris Roberson, who pulled down eight rebounds against
CORE Butte.
This week, the Eagles (2-0) entertained Loyalton in a rematch of last year’s title game on Tuesday before beginning play in Maxwell’s Irene Wells Tournament, which runs from Dec. 7-9.

gave first-year head coach Jonah McInnis his first varsity win, as they prevailed in a hard-fought victory over Oroville in their first game of the
season.
McInnis, who was the Bears’ JV coach last year, said he was pleased with his squad’s effort, but also that there will be an adjustment period with six players making their varsity debuts.
“We played with a lot of heart against Oroville,” said McInnis. “I’m really pleased with the effort, but we are still searching for our identity and will be working that out as we move forward.”
Although statistics from the tournament were not available, junior Drew Burnum was named to the All-Tournament team for Pierce, who finished fourth overall.
Looking to get back on track this week, the Bears (1-2) hit the road to take on Wheatland on Dec. 5, then headed to Angles Camp to participate in the Bret Harte Tournament, beginning on Dec. 7.

Opening play against Ukiah, the eventual tournament winner, Colusa, found itself down 39-17 at intermission and, despite outscoring the Wildcats in the second half, could not overcome the deficit.

Williams v. Oakmont (score not reported)

29.
Last week was a busy one for the Yellowjackets, who cannot be accused of shying away from tough competition in the preseason.
Having lost stalwarts Leo Trujillo and Brian Rosales to graduation, Williams is relying on a core of seniors in Kyden Bowen, Daniel Brunner, and Alexis Velazquez to lead the squad.
Bowen has been the ‘Jackets top scorer thus far, tossing in 23 and 18 points, respectively, in games against East Nic and Willows.
Brunner is a spark plug, playing aggressive defense in addition to being a threat to score, while Velaszquez isn’t afraid to mix it up underneath.
Fellow senior, Jose Martinez, looks to be a force on the boards, having reached double digits in contests against East Nic and Willows, with 14 and 11, in turn.
Sophomore Diego Ambriz appears to be settling in, having dropped nine against the Honkers and 15 against the host Indians at the Les Schwab Tournament, in Marysville.
Williams (1-5) continued its hectic pace this week returning home to face Live Oak on Monday, before journeying to Esparto on Tuesday, and then to Maxwell’s Irene Wells Tournament, which began Thursday.
