Volleyball Roundup: Williams Yellowjackets

The Yellowjackets’ Lupita Zuniga reaches to make a kill in a match against Maxwell on Sept. 5.
A shorthanded ‘Jacket squad was not at its best in a non-conference straight set loss to Maxwell to begin last week but turned in a solid effort at the tournament in Hamilton City to get back on track.
While the Yellowjackets did not quit in their match against the Panthers, unforced errors and a lack of communication proved too much to overcome, as they fell 17-25, 22-25, 16-25.
Mia Rivera led the effort with five kills, while Lupita Zuniga, a sophomore in the middle, showed her potential finishing with four kills, four service aces and two blocks.
Williams did not provide any defensive statistics from the match.
Finishing last week at the Hamilton City Tournament, the ‘Jackets defeated CORE Butte and Gridley, but fell to the host Braves and Oroville.
No other information from the tournament was available.
The Yellowjackets (7-11) had only one scheduled match this week, a non-conference contest with county rival Pierce on Sept. 13.
