COLUSA COUNTY, CA (MPG) – Two standout local volleyball players were amongst the 24 athletes selected to the 2025 All-Northern Section squad when it was announced last week.
For their efforts, Colusa’s Abby Coronado and Pierce’s Leah Charter both earned spots on the third team.
A powerful presence for the RedHawks, Coronado completed the year with 364 kills and 98 blocks, which was good for seventh in the section in both categories.
In addition, the junior served 79 aces and made 295 digs as Colusa finished the year as the NSCIF Division V runner-up and then reached the regional final of the CIF State Tournament.
Meanwhile, Charter, who did it all for Pierce in her final season, registered 343 kills, 479 digs and 367 service receptions in addition to handing out 91 assists, making 22 blocks and serving at a 96 percent clip.
Furthermore, beginning this year, the “Coach of the Year” award will be renamed to honor the exceptional leadership, mentorship and impact of Northern Section coaches in their respective sports.
Thus, first up is the Mike Haworth Northern Section Volleyball Coach of the Year Award in recognition of the longtime Enterprise coach.
