It was a busy start to the season for the Yellowjackets, who played five games in the span of six days against some tough competition.

The Yellowjackets’ Lupita Zuniga blocks a shot attempt by East Nic’s Avelina Machado in a game played on Dec.1.

Starting off against visiting East Nicolaus last Monday, Williams struggled with the Spartan defensive pressure in the loss, although Lupita Zuniga finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks.

 

In Lake County to face Upper Lake, Jennifer Vega-Jimenez led the effort with six points, on a night where nothing came easy for the ‘Jackets.

Williams’ Jennifer Vega-Jimenez led the ‘Jackets in scoring at Anderson’s Tip-Off Classic which ran from Dec. 4 – 6.

 

Vega-Jimenez also finished with a team-high 10 points against both Anderson and Enterprise, while Zuniga brought down seven rebounds in the game with Redding Christian.

 

Still looking for its first win, Williams was in Live Oak on Monday then headed to Shasta Lake to play Central Valley on Tuesday before returning to Colusa County to participate in Pierce’s Natalie Corona Invitational, which began on Thursday.

Biggs’ McLaughlin Tournament:

Maxwell 43 – Hamilton City 36 (12/5)

Maxwell 25 – Biggs 45 (12/6)

After picking up a win their season opener, the Panthers went 1-2 at Biggs’ McLaughlin Tournament.

 

Ruby Herrera pumped in 15 points and Bethany Wilson finished with six rebounds to lift Maxwell over Princeton in their first game of the 2025-26 season.

 

In Biggs, Miyah Reyes had a team-highs in all three games including nine points in the loss to Loyalton, a 12-point effort as the Panthers prevailed against Hamilton City, then closed out play with eight points in the finale.

 

Karina Perez also went for 10 points in the win over the Braves.

 

This week, Maxwell (2-2) made the trip to Etna on Dec. 9 before beginning play at the Natalie Corona Invitational on Dec. 11.
