Colusa 31- U-Prep 64 (11/25)

Just seven days after seeing their volleyball season come to an end, the largely same group of athletes took to the hardwood to open the RedHawks’ basketball season.

In the rematch of last season’s Northern Section Division IV championship game, the Panthers once again prevailed, despite an 18-point effort from Peyton Miller.

This week Colusa (0-1) hosted West Valley (0-0) on Dec. 1 before tipping off in its own Jim Ernst Classic on Dec. 4 against Forest Lake Christian (Auburn).

Boys:

Pierce 49 – Orland 55 (11/25)

Now under the direction of former Pierce standout Justin Mathews, the Bears fell short against visiting Orland in its season opener.

Down 16-34 at intermission, the Bears outscored the Trojans 21-12 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

Pierce (0-1) hosted Live Oak on Monday and began play in its own Pierce Invitational on Wednesday.

Williams 0 – San Juan 0 (11/24)

A power outage in Colusa County last Monday led to the cancellation of the Yellowjackets’ season opener against San Juan (Citrus Heights), but they were back in action hitting the road this to play East Nicolaus on Dec. 1 before making up the game against San Juan on Tuesday.
