Rounding out the regular season on the road, the Bears dropped their match to East Nicolaus 20-25, 25-19, 20-25, 19-25 before bouncing back with a sweep of Winters, although scores from the contest were not made available.
It was however, a disappointing loss to East Nicolaus, a team that Pierce had outlasted 3-2 in their previous meeting on Sept. 25.
Despite outhitting the Spartans, the Bears struggled in serve/receive as East Nicolaus recorded 20 aces.
Magali Jauregui handed out 30 assists and Charlie Wayman had 12 kills to lead Pierce’s attack.
Defensively, Leah Charter made a match-high 23 digs, Wayman finished with 21, while Leslye Velasquez and Jauregui had 17 and 15 digs respectively.
No information from the victory over Winters was provided by Pierce (24-9, 9-3), who was seeded No. 2 in the Northern Section Division IV playoffs and hosted No. 3 Colusa on Oct. 28 with the winner advancing to the championship match on Nov. 8 at Foothill High School.
Colusa 0 – Durham 3 (10/22)
Colusa 3 – Paradise 0 (10/23)
Following a straight set 17-25, 21-25, 22-25 loss to Durham, the RedHawks closed out the regular season with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-9 drubbing of Paradise.
On the road against first-place Durham, Colusa stayed with the athletic Trojans in terms of the attack, but served 10 less aces.
Abby Coronado had 13 kills and Peyton Miller added nine, but it wasn’t enough to offset a solid combination of Durham hitters.
Cindel Oliver handed out 15 assists and Leyla Avera logged 10.
However, it was a different story the following evening as the RedHawks crushed visiting Paradise.
Cecelia Mitchum made the most of her Senior Night with a team-high eight kills to go along with seven aces, while Coronado tallied six kills and four aces.
Oliver did well in facilitating the offense finishing with 18 assists, then additionally served five aces.
Coronado ended the night with six kills and Marlie Berry served six aces.
Having finished fourth in the Sacramento Valley League, Colusa (23-12, 7-5), received the No. 3 seed in the NSCIF Division IV playoffs and traveled to Arbuckle on Oct. 29 with a spot in the championship round on the line.

Although no information about the matches was made available, the Panthers closed out Mid-Valley League play with two wins and as a result enter the NSCIF Division VI playoffs as the No. 5 seed and headed to Weed on Oct. 30 to take on the No. 4 Cougars.
