Pierce 31 – Paradise 20

Up 31-6 heading into the fourth quarter, the Bears took their foot off the gas and as a result gave up two late scores in a Sacramento Valley League game where they were never really threatened.

 

Austin Jorge ran in the first three touchdowns for Pierce who saw Johnny Vazquez cap the scoring with one of his own.

 

Nate Macintosh led the ground attack gaining 87 yards on 13 carries.

 

Coach Anthony Tapia also reported the Francisco Ruiz kicked a 41-yard field goal in the win.

 

Defensively, Rodrigo Velazquez made a team-high nine tackles, while Colin Dye intercepted a pass.

 

Still unbeaten on the season, the Bears (8-0, 4-0) take on Durham (5-4, 2-3), a team that has been their nemesis over the years, at Gregg LeMaster Field in Arbuckle tonight.

 

Williams 13 – Quincy 21

Making its second trip up the Feather River Canyon in three weeks, the Yellowjackets again fell short in the mountain country, despite running for 251 yards as a team.

 

Ricardo Medina rushed for 138 yards on 19 carries and scored both Yellowjacket touchdowns, while Mattheew Cervantes ran 15 times for 85 yards.

 

For the ‘Jacket defense, Julian Garcia made a game-high 15 tackles, Medina had 10 including three for losses with Varion Gonzalez also making 10 tackles in addition to recovering two fumbles.

 

Looking to end a three game skid in Mid-Valley League play, Williams (3-5, 1-3) hosts Biggs tonight at McCarl Field.
