COLUSA, CA (MPG) – For the second year in a row the Colusa girls tennis team completed an undefeated season in the Sacramento Valley League after finishing off Paradise and Shasta Charter in home matches last week.
Facing Paradise, their closest SVL competitors on Oct. 7, the RedHawks won four singles and two doubles matches to hold off the Bobcats by a 6-3 score.

No. 1 Janell Garcia defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-3, while No. 3 Yali Cruz (6-4, 6-2), No. 4 Charlotte Stever (7-5, 6-2) and No. 5 Lizeth Ramirez (4-6, 6-4, 10-5) each recorded victories as well.
Then, despite dropping the No. 1 doubles’ match, Colusa came back to win the remaining two contests.
The No. 2 pair of Stever and Ramirez prevailed 8-6 with the No. 3 duo of Cruz and Ximena Dominguez coming out on top 8-4.
Finishing the regular season on Oct. 9, the RedHawks blew past Shasta Charter 8-1.
In singles, Garcia, Cruz, Stever, Ramirez and Dominguez all won in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-0, then Colusa swept the doubles matches with Garcia and Emily Lopez (8-2), Stever and Ramirez (8-0) along with Cruz and Dominguez (8-0) all taking care of business.
Weather permitting, the RedHawks traveled to Paradise on Tuesday and Wednesday this week for the SVL Finals, where those finishing in the top four in the tournament advance to the section championships.
