MAXWELL, CA (MPG) –Mid-Valley League cross country teams from Durham, Inspire Academy, Hamilton City and Paradise joined the host Panthers on a challenging course last Wednesday afternoon.

Enjoying the home field advantage, Maxwell won both the varsity boys and girls 5,000 meter races with Evan Mathis posting a personal best winning time of 19:14.88, while Jadyn Karlonas finished in a personal record time of 24:44.69.
In the team competition, the Panther varsity boys edged Durham, led by Mathis, Wyatt Roach (21:46.22-PR) and Julio Chavez (23:02.78-PR) who crossed the line fourth and eighth respectively.

Maxwell also had top 10 finishers in the varsity girl’s competition, with Fernanda Hernandez (38:21.75-PR) taking eighth and ahead of teammate Joceline Montero (40:32.22-PR) in ninth.
Running in the JV boys two mile race, Angel Herrera (19:22.53) was fourth, while among the JV girls, Reese Cunningham (21:30.18) was third, while Daniela Ambriz (24:28.66) was fifth.
Up next for the Panthers is the Chico Autumn Invitational on Oct. 18 at Hooker Oak Park in Chico.
