And so it goes. My schoolmates and I are at a precarious time of life.
Again this week, another one of us passed.
Longtime friend and schoolmate at Pierce Joint Union Chris Harding passed this week.
Pals Deb, Connie and I had lunch with Chris when I was in California last spring. Little did I know it would be our last visit with Chris.
We are now in that cycle of life when tomorrow is not guaranteed.
My late Aunt Betty always told me to stop and smell the flowers. She didn’t just say it, she did it. She literally stopped and smelled the flowers.
We need to appreciate the world we have been given.
I grew up here in Colusa County. It is farm country, much like where we live in rural North Dakota.
Sadly, as a kid, I didn’t take the time to appreciate the beauty here or the gift of living in a rural community. I know better now.
I have lived in large cities in my lifetime, but I’ve always been happiest in the country.
After my late husband, David, passed, daughter Tiffany and I moved to our family orchard property south of Grimes, California. We recall those years as good years. We had the chance to live a good life and to form an even closer mother-daughter bond.
We are blessed. Take the time to be grateful. Take the opportunity to share with others. You won’t always have that chance again.
Life is good today.
