It’s good to be back in California for a while.
We had an easy drive along our alternate route through Wyoming, Utah and Nevada. It was nice to see a bit of different scenery on our trip.
Some things are more expensive here than in North Dakota. Others, like fresh fruit and vegetables, are readily available. Prices are comparable, but the quality is superior. I do enjoy the tasty bits.
We agree that we are blessed to get to be here from time to time. Finding our little vacation place was definitely a God thing.
So far, we have lucked out and avoided any extreme heat.
Around me, though, there are a lot of challenges. Several of my friends are battling extreme health issues. I pray daily for gentle journeys for the ailing people. I’m also doubling down on prayer for the caregivers. I have walked that walk, and it isn’t an easy walk.
I hope that family members will step up and share the work. If you have an opportunity to give a caregiver a break, step up.
When my late husband was battling brain cancer, my daughter Velvet bought me a tanning package. She stayed with Dad, and I had a few minutes of escape. Shutting the lid on the tanning booth gave me 15 minutes of solitude. It was truly a gift at that time.
Help people where and when you can.
Life is good today.
