As an American and as a transplanted North Dakotan, I am proud to honor our nation’s 250th birthday.
I’m especially proud that North Dakota will soon welcome the opening of former President Theodore Roosevelt’s Presidential Library.
Perched on a hill overlooking the Badlands near Medora, the library will open July 4, our nation’s birthday.
We learned this week that President Donald Trump will appear in Medora on July 1, ahead of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library opening on July 4. He will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for this beautiful place.
Although not a native North Dakotan, Roosevelt is recognized by the state as one of its own. The placement of his library in the heart of the Badlands is especially appropriate. The dedication will celebrate Medora’s place in Roosevelt’s story and the profound influence the region had on his life.
This historic celebration will honor Roosevelt’s enduring contributions to conservation, public service, American leadership and the pioneering spirit that remains at the heart of the American story.
Of the 45 men who have served as president, 14 have traveled to North Dakota to speak in communities across the state.
President Trump has visited North Dakota a number of times.
I pray this event will be held with the dignity and grace for which our state is known.
It is time to be proud of our state and of our nation.
God bless the USA and its leaders.
Life is good today.
