Life is Good: God Has a Better Plan

The best-laid plans are not always the best plans. Sometimes it takes a mishap to remind us what we really need to do.

Daughter Velvet and I have planned our trip to Italy for about two years. Always the planners and organizers, we had fine-tuned every detail and every scheduled event.

The day we were leaving, Velvet had a mishap and ended up with an injured ankle and a walking boot.

We thought my weak ankle from my previous ice incident would slow us down but so far, I’m doing well.

While the jam-packed itinerary was the plan, we are now going at a slower pace and adjusting to what is more important. God had a plan for us much better than our own.

We are taking our time and enjoying every minute more than we might have.

The things we are seeing and the people we have met are memorable, blessed and what we needed.

From the airline attendants to our tour guide here, we have received acts of kindness. We have been blessed.

Maybe if we hadn’t come back early to our rented apartment last night, we would have missed the sweet music outside when the street performer began to play.

It’s all good.

Today we will visit Vatican City. I have no doubt the blessings will flow.

We are no longer on our plan. Instead, we are walking (although a bit slower) with God and being open to His lead.

Life is good today.
